Of course, our village is spoilt for choice when it comes to public houses – with the historic seven (above) now joined by other Ruddington venues where you can sit down to enjoy an alcoholic drink or two – such as Ruddington Grange Golf Club, The Bottle Top and Philo’s Deli.
However, it’s the more traditional community inns which are the focus of Rushcliffe MP Ruth Edwards‘ latest competition – to find ‘The Best Pub in Rushcliffe’. She has launched this search in tandem with her ‘Best Local Shop Awards 2021’ – which also has some strong Ruddington contenders.
Ruth explains: “Pubs are a vital part of local communities and we have a fantastic network of them throughout Rushcliffe. I am so pleased to be launching my Best Pub in Rushcliffe Competition. The pub with the most votes will take first prize. There will also be two runners-up positions, so every vote counts!”
Our MP reveals she will be announcing the winners alongside the winners of her ‘Best Local Shop Award 2021’ on ‘Small Business Saturday‘ this December. Ruth is also writing to pub owners and landlords, asking them to fill in a survey on how their business has been affected by the pandemic and to assess the effectiveness of the various Government COVID support packages. These include support announced in the Autumn Budget, such as a 5% tax cut to pints pulled in pubs across the UK.
Ruth promises she will feed the results of this survey to help shape the Government’s approach on how to support pubs as we continue to emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic and inform decisions in the future.
“I’m asking people across Rushcliffe to join me in the hunt for Rushcliffe’s best pub by voting for favourite pub here: https://www.ruthedwards.org.uk/news/best-pub-rushcliffe-2021” she says.
